We generally fly at Gratwick Riverside Park on the first and third Sundays each month from about noon until about 4 PM. If the wind is consistently over 20 mph you may find no one there as that exceeds the threshold for not destroying kites. Ideal wind speed is from 8 to 15 mph especially if it is consistent. The 1st Sunday in August is an exception as the boat races take place that day.

Family Picnic
We fly from about noon until 4 PM. This is one of the best days of the year to come out to watch our show. This is the one day where the most flyers come out to display their kites. Be sure to come out to the park to watch.
At 4 PM we start the move to the picnic shelter. Dinner for club members starts at 5 PM. Meat is supplied by the GLKS while members bring a dish to pass. Tickets are handed out to each family for the kite raffle.
Night Fly
We serve pizza to our members around 5 PM. While dusk is settling we set up a show lights on the ground. While these are always visible, it is some times very hard to fly a LED kite because the wind speed often drops at night. When we get a sufficient breeze, we try to fly for about an hour and half after dusk. See the kites flashing their LED lights in the sky is a unique experience that everyone can enjoy.
Thanksgiving Dinner
The club provides Turkey for dinner. Our buffet is set to serve about 2 PM. We usually have one turkey that is cooked in a fryer. This gives it a unique taste experience.
Dinner served buffet style. Members supply homemade desserts. Yum!

Christmas Dinner
We have a white elephant sale while waiting for dinner to be brought out. We have fun outbidding each other by writing our number on the forms next to the items on a table. Each family is given a ticket for kites to be raffled off after dinner. Bring a gift get a gift is much fun as members try to surprise others. The tables are decorated with bowls of candy and poinsettias. These too are raffled off. Left over food is packaged and raffled off so you may get two meals out of one. Certainly everyone goes home with something while cheers and laughter ring in our ears.
